Las Vegas Raiders Player Arrested Prior to Gameday

Las Vegas Raiders backup safety Roderic Teamer, who was activated off injured reserve Saturday, was arrested and charged with misdemeanor DUI and speeding Saturday night.[1] Teamer was originally put on injury reserve due to a hamstring injury during week 6 against the Patriots on October 15.[2] Due to his injury, he was scheduled to be out at least 4 games. Teamer ended up staying on the injury reserve list for 6 games, as he was activated this past Saturday morning after being a full participant in practice the entire week.[3]

According to Las Vegas Justice Court records, Teamer, 26, was charged with “DUI of alcohol and/or controlled or prohibited substance” and a basic speeding violation — 21-30 miles per hour over posted speed limit.[4] Teamer was released early Sunday morning. Prior to his arrest, Teamer was on the way to the team hotel prior to the curfew, as the team spends the night before gameday together in a hotel.[5]

The Raiders have commented on the situation, stating they are away of the incident regarding Roderic Teamer and are in the process of gathering more information.[6] Teamer also did not play in Sunday’s game against the Chiefs as the team ruled him inactive due to the arrest.

Teamer has previously been in the public eye regarding issues with the NFL. In 2020, Teamer was suspended for 4 games for violating the league’s substance-abuse policy. Teamer was with the Los Angeles Chargers at the time and had to forfeit $159,294 of his salary.[7]

When it comes to charges, the player first is subject to punishment under the state or federal guidelines set by the judge. Following this, the NFL may then choose to impose its own disciplinary measures, sanctions, suspensions, or fines under the NFL Personal Conduct Policy.
