Tyreek Hill Investigated by the NFL After Allegations of Domestic Violence

The NFL is investigating new allegations of domestic violence against Dolphins player Tyreek Hill. These allegations were made by Hill’s wife, Keeta Vaccaro, who filed for divorce on April 8. They were married for only 17 months before Vaccaro filed for divorce. [1] Vaccaro filed for divorce one day after police responded to a domestic dispute at the couples’ home in Florida.[2]

In a new court filing this month, Vaccaro alleged eight separate instances of abuse that she suffered from Hill. [3] She alleges that the abuse began in January 2024, which was two months after the couple got married. [4] Some of the actions detailed in the filing allege that Hill threw Vaccaro to the floor multiple times, spat on her, and became physical with her while she was pregnant with their now 10-month-old child. [5]

Hill has not been criminally charged, and it is not clear if law enforcement is investigating the abuse allegations. [6] It is “standard policy for the league to review a matter such as this” said Brian McCarthy, an NFL spokesperson.

Hill’s attorneys have vehemently denied the claims. Hill’s personal attorney, Julius Collins, said in a statement that the allegations are “unsubstantiated, untrue, and an attempt to generate bad media coverage.” [7] He further stated that the motive behind Vaccaro’s allegations is to obtain a large settlement from Hill. [8] Hill’s divorce attorney, Michael Gottlieb, similarly stated that the allegations are “intended as a means of shaking down Mr. Hill for money.” [9]

Tyreek Hill is no stranger to conflict. He has been involved in several incidents off the field in the last several years.[10] Hill pleaded guilty to domestic violence in 2015 and was investigated for suspected child abuse but was never charged.[11] He was also detained by police last year after being pulled over for speeding and reckless driving, was in a physical altercation with a Haulover Marina employee, and was involved in another lawsuit which alleges that he broke a social media influencer’s leg. [12]
