Quarterback Jaxson Dart Suffers Concussion during Chicago Bears Game

Last Sunday, New York Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart suffered a concussion during the game against the Chicago Bears.[1] He took a hit on a fumble in the third quarter, and hit his head on the ground.[2] Dart continued for two plays, and then went to the medical tent.[3]

Coach Daboll stated, “’I’d just say it’s unfortunate that he got hurt.’”[4] Dart has been evaluated four times for a concussion this year,[5] which is concerning for his overall health. Why did Dart go back in the game after he was hit?[6] The Giants did not realize at first that Dart was badly injured, and noticed “something was wrong between quarters.”[7] Coach Daboll said, “’So with Dart going back out on the field, just didn’t seem right. So, called the trainers over and said let’s get him out and make sure he gets looked at. So, he went in and got looked at, evaluated for a concussion.’”[8] He further stated that “’somebody said something’” on the sideline, demonstrating that Dart was hurt.[9]

Last month, Dart was evaluated for a concussion during the Philadelphia Eagles game.[10] See https://ublawsportsforum.com/2025/10/17/concussion-protocol-under-review-by-nfl-and-nflpa-for-quarterback-jaxson-dart/. Coach Daboll and Cam Skattebo stuck their heads in the medical tent, while Dart was being evaluated.[11] The Giants were fined $200,000, Coach Daboll was fined $100,000, and Cam Skattebo was fined $15,000.[12] Pat Leonard, the New York Daily News NFL columnist, said that the NFL and NFLPA “will not be conducting a joint investigation into [this] matter.”[13] Coach Daboll was also fired on Monday after the Giants’ loss to the Bears.[14]

I hope that Dart recovers quickly from his concussion. He is an asset to the Giants, but has taken several hits this season, which require full recovery. Dart has impressively “produced 17 total touchdowns” this season.[15]
